Our drummer Are Lysgård (pictured right) has left the band to pursue other projects. We wish him luck in all his future endeavors.
Cue Decay will continue on as a power trio, with vocalist Karl AD (pictured left) taking over drum duties. We’re currently taking some time rehearsing and writing songs, but we’ll be back early 2010, ready to rock you!

NRK Urørt is Norway’s biggest demo contest for unsigned bands, arranged by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. Bands can upload their demos at nrk.no/urort, and the best songs are played on the “Urørt” radio show on NRK P3 wednesdays between 21:00 and 23:00. Every year, 10 bands are picked for a grand finale, and the winner is selected through a public vote.

Cue Decay was formed as a studio project by brothers in-law Mario Quintanilla and Karl Arne Dalsaune in Trondheim, Norway, fall 2008. With a desire to make something new out of something old, the two of them started writing and recording music with roots far back in rock history. Their musical backgrounds complement eachother; Mario’s pop sensibilities and tender ballads finds a natural counterpart in Karl AD’s noise-drenched punk approach. The band is completed by Simen T. Taraldsen, who employs both noise, punch and melody to round out the sound. With a mix of blues, indie pop, punk and rock, the three have crafted a timeless sound with both mainstream and underground influences, from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana to The Velvet Underground, The Ramones and Dinosaur Jr.
“Cue Decay will, with their raw “british”-influenced 70s pop rock, touch your heart, much like bands such as Big Star. This is a risky genre, but we expect that CD will sail on through and feed a hungry indie crowd. At the same time, we shouldn’t forget that these boys also serve up a dash of quality punk, so if you like both soft and hard packages, this should be the perfect christmas!”

Cue Decay ble startet som et studioprosjekt høsten 2008 i Trondheim av svogerne Mario Quintanilla og Karl Arne Dalsaune. Med et ønske om å skape noe nytt av noe gammelt, begynte de to å skrive og spille inn musikk med røtter langt tilbake i musikkhistorien. Deres ulike musikalske bakgrunn komplementerer hverandre; Marios popteft og søte ballader møter en naturlig motvekt i Karl Arnes støyfulle punktendenser. Bandet blir fulltallig med Simen T. Taraldsen, som bruker både støy, trøkk og melodi for å fylle ut lyden. Med en blanding av blues, indiepop, punk og rock skaper de et tidløst uttrykk med referanser både i mainstream og undergrunnen, fra The Beatles, Led Zeppelin og Nirvana til The Velvet Underground, Ramones og Dinosaur Jr.
